On the eighth day of Navratri, better known as Maha Ashtami, people worship Maa Mahagauri, who is the younger version of Maa Shailputra. The goddess is believed to have a fair complexion, hence, the name Mahagauri – Maha means great and Gauri means white complexion.
The goddess rides on a white bull and wears white clothes and ornaments. She has the power to fulfill the desires of her devotees and get rid of their sufferings. She is also the symbol of peace, calmness, beauty and love. Wearing pink is considered auspicious on Ashtami as the colour is also considered as a symbol of care, compassion and universal love.
Here are celeb-inspired ways to wear pink this Maha Ashtami:
1) Pink lehengas and anarkali gowns are bright and beautiful and are perfect to dance the night away in. ‘Kaabil’ actress Yami Gautam is seen dressed in a hot pink lehenga from the house of Anita Dongre. The silver embroidered looks lovely on the Punjabi beauty. You can take inspiration from her on how to accessorise it right with simple earrings and kadas.
2) If you still haven’t worn a sari this Navratri, then Ashtami is just the right time to wear one. A pink sari has the power to brighten your day. The ‘Queen’ of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut looks all decked up in a pink kanjeevaram sari. You too can tie your hair into a bun and adorn it with gajras. Also, golden jhumkas and kadas are a nice touch.
3) Hot pink is a difficult colour to manage. The rule is to keep it simple and classy. And that is exactly what Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has done here. She looked pretty in a full sleeves, bright pink colour salwar kameez. A matching dupatta, red lips and only eyeliner worked wonders for her.
