SPYDER starring Mahesh Babu, directed by AR Murugadoss finally hit theaters on 27th September. The film released in two languages – Tamil and Telugu across the world. The movie was touted to be a high octane spy film that showed us a stylish side to Mahesh Babu. Also, since the movie was being made on an ambitious budget of Rs 120 crore. expectations were high with regards to its action sequences. While the movie received mixed reviews, it has performed at the BO. AS per updates, the movie has gone to rake in Rs 51 crore at the worldwide box office. This is the second highest collection after Baahubali 2. While SPYDER’s worldwide collection is more than that of Jr NTR’s Jaia Lav Kusa, it must BE noted that the film released in two languages. If we were to consIder only the Telugu version the film has FAILED to beat Jai Lava Kusa, as it raked in Rs 24 crore, as per a report on Times Of Inida,  while Jai Lava Kusa raked in awhopping Rs 39.50 crore  Nonetheless If the actioner keeps up this momentum, it will be second  movie to earn the fastest Rs 100 crore after Baahuabli 2! SPYDER got off to a brilliant start at the US premiere. The premiere and firdta partial colelcitons alone raked ina whopping Rs 7.40 crore. On that front too it BEAT Jai Lava Kusa. But it must be brought to notice that SPYDER released in two languages while Jai Lava Kusa released only in Telugu. If we were to consider only the Telugu version, would it still have beaten Jai Lava Kusa?

After Brahotsavam’s disastrous performance at the BO last year, Mahesh Babu needed a hit to reinstate his  commercial viability. Having that said that,  let’s hope the BO numbers do not witness a dip owing to the mixed reviews for SPYDER. Here’s an excerpt from our review: This movie deserves a watch for the AR Murugadoss – Mahesh Babu combo. For once a director must be applauded for not letting the star supersede the story.
