After weeks of gruelling competition, Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 has finally found its winner. Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9 runner-up Shantanu Maheshwari has taken home the trophy after beating Hina Khan and Ravi Dubey in the finals.Bollywood Life spoke exclusively to Shantanu after the win. He said,”This is totally unexpected. I did not think I would even make it to the finals. In this journey, I fought my phobias and overcame them.” So, who were his toughest competitors on the show? “Everyone played to win. There was healthy competition. This season has been one of the most successful ones TRP-wise. The show stayed on the first three spots for the greater part of the season. Many feel it is due to the return of Rohit Shetty and the amazing line-up of contestants that included some of the best names from the industry. “Obviously, Rohit Sir’s presence got back many fans on the show. However, we must credit the channel and production house for the fantastic job they did on the show. I feel people really connected with us as our camaraderie came across as natural. We bonded as friends on the show and the audience could see the fun we were having was so real and natural. We teased each other so much throughout the show and there are so many crazy BTS moments. I feel that struck a right chord with people,” elaborates Shantanu. The young man also made many fans during the course of the show. Shantanu’s fellow contestants have gushed about his sense of balance, composure and mental strength. This is not all. Hotties like Nia Sharma and Monica Dogra have gushed that Shantanu is a real gentleman. “Hahah…I have made some good friends in Nia and Monica. During the show, we realised that we come from similar backgrounds and bonded on common things. It is just pure friendship,” he says. When we tell him that many felt he was one lucky chap to be with such beauties in Spain.”What can I say to that,” tells Shantanu.
The young man is now busy with a dance workshop with his team, Desi Hoppers. It is a fitness cum dance endeavour by him. The actor also spoke about Pehredaar Piya Ki. “I was never doing season two of that show. I have no idea who started off this rumour. I want to take up projects that will excite me as a performer and challenge me to a great extent,” he says. The young man also cherishes the time he spent with Rohit Shetty. “He used to share a lot of his experiences with us. We did not know that he had done so many deadly stunts himself. He also spoke about his father and what he learnt in Bollywood. Rohit Sir is a great mentor and fabulous person,” signs off the teen icon.
