The ninth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati has been doing wonders on the TRP charts from the time it was launched. Hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, the game show is loved for its inspiring stories, knowledge and sheer human values. With a door to win seven crore, the show hadn’t yet seen a big winner until last night. Jamshedpur social worker Anamika Mazumdar has finally broken the jinx and becomes the first crorepati of the season. Shared a source to indianexpress.com, “Anamika was a very practical and reasonable kind of a person who took each question very seriously. When she reached the crore mark, even with no lifeline left, she reasoned all the options before choosing the right answer. Even Big B was surprised with her confidence and risk-taking attitude.”
A music lover, Anamika hails from Jamshedpur and is married with two kids. A social worker, she runs Faith in India NGO, that’s dedicated towards uplifting women in Jharkand, especially in the rural areas for the last three years. During the commencement of the episode, she shared that she would use her prize money for the cause she supports. The entire time that she was grilled on the hot seat, Anamika was strongly supported by her mother, who had joined her bahu as her companion.
The source further shared, “Anamika’s mother was against her taking the bet, as, without a lifeline, she was up for a very big risk. It was her knowledge and reasoning skills that made her win. Both women were left in tears with happiness and excitement. Her mother hugged her tight, pride shining on her face. It was a big moment of joy for the entire team as they finally got their crorepati.”
After settling down from the celebration, Anamika decided to go for the seven crore question. But she decided to quit after she realised that she has no knowledge about it. Host Amitabh Bachchan too hailed her decision of being content with the crore than going for the big jump.
The episode was shot last night at the exquisite set of Kaun Banega Crorepati in Filmcity, Mumbai. Also as part of the Friday special episodes with real-life heroes, badminton champion P V Sindhu will soon be seen on the show. The sports star shot for the episode yesterday.
The grand episode with Anamika will air sometime next month.
