The 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu was well received by the audience and the second film Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), even fetched a National Film Award for Kangana. This will mark the actress’ third outing with the acclaimed director Anand L. Rai.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns had Kangana playing a double role where she reprised her character of Tanu from the first film and also played Datto, a Haryanvi athlete who falls in love with Manu, played by R. Madhavan. In both the films, actor Madhavan starred opposite the actress. Jimmy Shergill, Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar and Eijaz Khan have been a part of the ensemble throughout the franchise.

Kangana Ranaut is currently working on the biopic of Rani Laxmibai. In 2017, Kangana has had two movie releases, Rangoon and Simran, and the actress has been pretty vocal about her personal life in various candid interviews.

Director Anand L. Rai’s untitled next film stars Shah Rukh Khan as a vertically challenged man. The film also stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut has been served with a legal notice by Zarina Wahab and Aditya Pancholi after her remarks on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat wherein she alleged that Zarina Wahab knew of her affair with Pancholi and did nothing to save her from the abuse she was facing at the time.
